As far as weight loss and good health goes, Helen has been there and tried that. Diets always work for her... until they don't. She lets it get her down for a while and then she tries another version of the same thing, and the cycle repeats. Helen is really unsure of how to solve this problem once and for all, actually she starting to think maybe nothing will actually work for her in the long t...

How to overcome emotional eating and cravings
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Рік тому
Most of us are familiar with the idea of planning to eat one way - the healthy way - when we’re feeling logical and rational and motivated, but for some reason we end up going off plan. We make decisions emotionally after a bad day - or a good one for that matter. We can't stop ourselves acting on cravings, we binge. We "fall off the wagon". Instead of eating the foods we KNOW will get us close...

I don't personally drink coffee, but I've no doubt if you look long enough and hard enough you'd be able to find a coffee creamer that ticks all the whole foods plant based (no oil) boxes. Well done Spud Fit, I love this! This way of simple but generous eating has kept me well, feeling great and healthy for many years now! I still eat as much as I want, when I want - lots of rice, potatoes, pasta, beans, lentils, wholegrain bread, all the fruit, vegies and spices - all the good things! Keeping it simple and do-able for every day life is essential.

      I'd love to have you take our free 1 day challenge. It's an hour of training that guides you through one day of our approach. It doesn't sound like one single day would do anything, but it gives you huge insight into your relationship with food as it stands and shows you exactly how our approach can change it for the better. Also, one day isn't really any different to one thousand days. It's only the stories that you tell yourself that change - and that's exactly the bit that we help with. You can get it on our website: spudfit.com/ (it's a pop out box on the side "Try it free". Get in touch if you need any help andrew@spudfit.com

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit 13 днів тому

      Thanks for this comment :) Actually we specifically didn't mention potatoes in this video because that's only one choice of many for achieving the psychological changes that people come to us for help with. I came to potatoes after an intense period of research that led to the conclusion that potatoes are the most complete single whole food and capable of sustaining great health over a long time. However two things: 1. I included sweet potatoes (which actually aren't potatoes, for the record!) too on my year long challenge and we have had many members over the years with nightshade allergies who have completed a short term mono-diet of only sweet potatoes, and 2. most don't need a mono-diet at all to get the changes they're looking for in mindset and habits. What you don't eat is far more important than what you do, and that's what everything we do is really about.

    I think your interpretation of the study is wrong. This study showed what happens when people try to follow a strict diet. And they found that people have a hard time following the strict diets. If people followed the diet as prescribed, they would have done better, but that seems to be the case with all diets.

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit 17 днів тому

      I think that what you've written heere it quite reasnoable but that's clearly not what the study was focussed on and it's not what they concluded. It would've been reasonable to make a conclusion on which diet was the hardest/easiest to follow but that's not what they did. The study conclusion was about which diet had the best health outcomes, even though most people didn't actually follow their diets properly.

      They are pretty great! I add a little bit of onion powder, garlic powder and nutritional yeast.

    I had an adenoma on one of my adrenal glands and it produced uncontrolled amounts of aldosterone and Cortisol. That took 15 years plus to detect. High BP Constant hunger, Only 'cat napped' (no real sleep) Had an adrenalectomy but a lot of damage was done before it was detected. I was effectively in 'fight /flight mode' non stop for 15 + years. Now I am 90% WFPB (Some things I am finding hard to give up fully but I restrict them).

      @@SpudFit Unfortunately I contracted a virus post op and it has done perm damage to both my nervous system and endocrine system. I wake feeling like some one has literally just stopped kicking the living daylights out of me. The day then goes down hill from there. One of the problems I have is that some signals (like the signal from the stomach to the brain) often does not work. So I can feel starving hungry even just after eating a big meal. Other times I don't feel hungry for days. Unfortunately more the former then the latter.

    Cortisol is released as a stress response and in turn raises blood sugar so insulin is secreted and fat burning stops. So if you have chronic stress in your life it can be a problem

      As I said in the video, I haven't been able to find good evidence that cortisol is linked to insulin in this way. Stress and cortisol can definitely be a problem in relation to weight gain but more because it interferes with the function of our prefrontal cortex and impedes our ability to make logical, rational decisions.

    What is your experience with the potato diet related to nonalcoholic liver disease? It is said that people affected with this issue should at all costs avoid refined carbohydrates. Would you say that ingesting mainly potatoes could represent a problem? I would really appreciate your take on this. Thanks in advance!

      I’ve helped plenty of people heal from fatty liver eating only potatoes, other whole plant foods are very good too. Id also recommend avoiding refunded carbs but potatoes are not refined carbs. More important to limit fat. I hope that helps!

      @@SpudFit Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question. I'm very relieved, and I also think that potatoes are not refined carbs, although many "experts" say the opposite. As a matter of fact, in just about 10 days my blood sugar dropped so much that I could stop all medication. Refined carbs wouldn't do that, would they? 😉
